TheCheat 1.4
TheCheat was written to fill an obvious gap in the fan translator’s toolchest: a customizable tool for previewing a game’s script as it will appear on screen, using the game’s own font.
TheCheat is endlessly customizable and supports both font rips as well as font images formatted for use with Stefan Pettersson’s Bitmap Font Writer. It was originally designed for use with variable width fonts (VWF), but now officially supports fixed-width display as well.
You can import screen captures from a game to simulate an actual text box and adjust the position of the text to match; in addition, TheCheat was also made with formatting functionality in mind, with an adjustable clipping box that can be set to the actual usable area of the game’s text box. Say goodbye to scripts that don’t fit!

Protip for those having problems getting non-ASCII characters to display properly: make sure your table file is saved in UTF-8 format (easy to do in Notepad; no special tools or programs required! Just “Save As” and change “ANSI” to “UTF-8” in the drop-down menu, then save!).
